A base hit by Odessa High and a Mojo fielding error in the top of the third frame yielded the game's first run and gave the Bronchos a 1-0 lead. The inning began with an OHS batter being awarded first base on a called catcher interference. After the run, Permian infielders Villa and Bedrick made short work of a pair of ground balls to end the at-bat.
Permian left food on the plate but took a one run lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Seth Higdon led off with a homerun that cleared the left field fence to tie the game. Next, Taylor Sullivan reached first base safely on a bunt down the third base line. Isaiah Flores followed and was hit by a pitch to put two Panthers aboard. A Christian Tschauner RBI single to centerfield scored Flores for a 2-1 Mojo lead.
Odessa High regained the lead in the top of the fifth inning. With the asistance of a double, single, and two Permian fielding errors, the Bronchos scored three runs to take a 4-2 lead. The score would remain unchanged until the bottom of the seventh.
Trailing by two runs, it all came down to the Panthers' last at-bat. Tschauner stepped into the batter's box a rocketed a two-bagger to right field. Bedrick matched that on a shot to centerfield to plate Tschauner. With a 3-1 count, Adams connected on a screaming shot that flew over the left field fence to secure the 5-4 district victory.
