ODESSA, TX (KWES) -
Thursday marked the second day of the early signing period for high school athletes and 2 Permian football players signed to Division 1 programs.

Panthers quarterback Steve Steen signed his letter of intent to play at the United States Naval Academy and linebacker Preston Ellison has decided to continue playing at Southern Methodist University. Both Panthers reflected on their decisions and moving on to play in the same conference.

"All jokes aside, I'm really excited for it. I think the last time I played against Steve was in 6th grade when he was at Reagan and I was at Barbara Jordan. It's been awhile but getting to play a friend in D-1 football, that's pretty big so I'm excited," said Ellison.
